Vehicle Description
1966 Ford Bronco | Documented Frame-Off Style Restoration | 302 V8 | 5-Speed | Power Steering | Front Disc Brakes
Some Early Broncos have stories. This one has documentation.
Offered here is a beautifully restored 1966 Ford Bronco with an extensive paper trail documenting more than $31,800 invested in restoration parts, professional labor, and upgrades between 2011 and 2016. The sale includes a binder of original receipts from respected Bronco suppliers and local restoration shops, providing uncommon transparency into the build.
In addition to the extensive documentation, the sale includes approximately 67 restoration photographs chronicling the Bronco s transformation from its pre-restoration condition through disassembly, bodywork, paint preparation, mechanical assembly, and final completion. Together with the receipts, these photographs provide an exceptional visual history of the restoration and allow the next owner to see exactly how this Bronco was restored.
Powered by a professionally rebuilt 302 cubic-inch Ford V8, the engine was machined .040-inch over and installed by American & Import Engines in Redding, California. The engine rebuild included new pistons, bearings, rings, timing set, oil pump, freeze plugs, valve springs, pushrods, rocker components, camshaft and lifters, along with complete machining, balancing, and assembly work. The drivetrain is paired with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission, professionally installed, giving this classic Bronco modern drivability while maintaining its vintage character.
The suspension and braking systems were upgraded with components from Wild Horses 4x4, including a deluxe front disc brake conversion, stainless braided brake hoses, heavy-duty master cylinder, proportioning valve, stainless hard lines, and Warn Premium locking hubs. The Bronco also features power steering, making it significantly easier to drive than a stock manual-steering example.
Fuel delivery was modernized with a new rear steel fuel tank, sending unit, filler hose, and related components. The cooling system received attention with radiator service, water pump replacement, and additional upgrades during the engine installation.
The transmission was professionally rebuilt by Hartnell Transmission, and receipts document additional service to the clutch system, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, transmission mounts, and related components.
The electrical system also received significant attention. Records show installation of a new alarm/security system, charging system diagnosis and repair, new voltage regulator, battery replacement, electrical troubleshooting, and additional wiring work to improve reliability.
The Bronco received approximately $9,000 in professional body and paint work by Hobbs Auto Body. Interior improvements include a new headliner, upholstery work, heater restoration, custom accessories, weatherstripping, windshield replacement, gauges, and numerous factory-style trim components sourced from Tom s Bronco Parts, NPD, LMC, Summit Racing, and other specialty suppliers.
